Cyberpunk 2077 has been out for a few days now. There has been plenty of player feedback in regards to bugs and glitches, of which there were more than a few. While some glitches are to be expected with any new game, especially one of this size, Cyberpunk 2077’s bugs have been pretty interesting. The Patch 1.04 update intends to fix some of the game’s major problems from its December 10 launch.
The patch is currently live on PC and PlayStation, but will be out “soon” on Xbox systems. 2077 was delayed many times in the past for quality assurance purposes but is still facing plenty of issues at launch.
Mostly, the day 1 hotfixes aim to solve some of the bigger problems the game faced at launch. Namely, an issue with the “streamer mode” feature, which toggles copyrighted music from the game’s soundtrack. This fix will mostly help streamers from facing unnecessary DMCA strikes and takedowns. A bug at launch caused copyrighted music to slip through the toggle, understandably worrying content creators. The developer of Cyberpunk, CD Projekt Red (CDPR), was aware of this issue beforehand. Before patch 1.04, streamers were simply warned to keep the in-game music turned off.

Another big issue was the “braindance” sequences, which were noted to be a potential risk for triggering epileptic seizures. According to the 1.04 patch notes, the flashing effect is now “smoothed out and the flashes reduced in frequency and magnitude.” Obviously, triggering seizures is never a good thing, and hopefully, this hotfix will keep players safe and CDPR out of legal hot water. Much like the music toggle, this issue was brought to light prior to the game’s launch but has only just now been able to receive a fix.
The patch also fixes a slew of miscellaneous issues, mostly involving broken or buggy quests.
Some of the bugs have been funny, like the glitch where your character’s penis pops out of their pants on the inventory screen. There has been some slight backlash about the genital customization options, but that is a topic for another time.
Some glitches have been helpful to the already-burgeoning speedrunning community for Cyberpunk 2077. The r/speedrun community is already seeing tons of posts about possible speed boosts and useful glitches. 2077 now boasts the biggest Steam launch of all time, peaking at more than a million players. Such a huge title will inevitably lead to an enormous speedrunning community.
