Elden Ring Is Coming January 2022

Posted on June 19, 2021 by Dakota Deitsch

After two long years of waiting, E3 2021 has finally brought us news for Elden Ring. In a brand new gameplay reveal trailer, we got to see a bit of what will be in store for us with this title. We also finally got a release date.

Elden Ring In A Nutshell

Elden Ring was first announced during E3 2019. Since then, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have been rather quiet regarding the title. Before E3 2021, we knew that this game would be open-world and that George R. R. Martin, author of the A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series, would be helping out with the game’s lore.

We knew it would mix elements of the Dark Souls series with a fresh open-world full of Martin’s lore. Martin’s approach the game’s lore would open up a huge amount of possibilities in story-telling for the game. While Martin didn’t work directly on the story of the game, his lore will open the story up quite a bit.

Due to the silence regarding the title, numerous fake leaks popped up, including a YouTube channel dedicated to sharing this fake news. However there was one accurate leak of information that allowed fans to see a glimpse of gameplay. However, that was still not enough to satisfy fans, especially after waiting two years. However the wait is finally over.

Release Date

At long last, we can finally put a date to Elden Ring’s release. The game is set to be released on January 21, 2022. It will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Gameplay Details

In the trailer, we saw brief gameplay. The world it showed off was not too different from those seen in FromSoftware’s other titles like Dark Souls. We also saw some enemies in the spotlight such as boss battles, dragons, and other huge creatures. The game certainly looks to fulfill the FromSoftware promise of being full of lore and action. There was also a bit of a hint that there could be multiplayer similar to that present in Dark Souls, as well.

The game will also feature natural weather and time of day progression, and smooth transitions between the overworld and dungeons. The game world is called the Lands Between and is a collaborative effort between George R. R. Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki.

All that aside, not much else is known about the title. At this point, fans are just excited to finally see some gameplay and get a release date. The silence was a bit concerning, but now we can sit back and wait for January and hope that they don’t have to delay it.
