BotW 2 title

Will Breath Of The Wild 2 Be Featured at E3?

Posted on June 8, 2021 by Dakota Deitsch

One of Nintendo’s most anticipated games could be getting some more light shed on it at E3. The elusive Breath of the Wild 2 was confirmed at E3 in 2019. Since then, Nintendo has been rather quiet about the title. With E3 returning this year, it is likely Nintendo will be showing off more information on the game.

Breath Of The Wild 2 Rumors

A rumor of Breath of the Wild 2’s presence at E3 was made during a Twitch stream by Jeff Grubb, a well-respected industry veteran. He claimed that Breath of the Wild 2 would be featured in E3. He also pointed out that if they don’t showcase it during E3, news about the game should come shortly after.

This would certainly back up Nintendo’s statement in February claiming that they would have more Breath of the Wild news later in the year. E3 would be a good place to give players a hands on look at the game, and get them hyped for the title. Not to mention, we haven’t seen anything new about the game for two years now.

On top of that, Grubb also claimed that there would be more Zelda games for Nintendo to show off. He didn’t specify what they could be, but given that it is The Legend of Zelda’s 35th anniversary, it could be more Switch ports of older titles.

Rumors of the Nintendo Switch Pro also raises questions of Breath of the Wild 2’s standing. Nintendo could be making it a launch title for their new console. If that’s the case, it would explain the vagueness surrounding the game.

What We Know About The Sequel

Zelda and Link
BotW 2 could be the new system’s launch title. Launching with a cross gen Zelda title has always yielded great results for Nintendo systems (Wii, and Switch).

Not much is known about Breath of the Wild 2 yet. That is what makes its presence in E3 so anticipated. In fact, an official title for the game hasn’t even been announced yet. However, we do know that Nintendo is still hard at work on the title.

Based on the trailer, it is going to take place after the events of the first game. It is rare for the Legend of Zelda franchise to have direct sequels ( Nintendo 64’s Majora’s Mask being one of the exceptions), as they usually reimagine Link, Zelda and Ganon. However, this title will be continuing the story of the same Zelda and Link from the first game. Not much has been announced regarding the story, but the trailer shows us a bit of what could be going on.

While none of the rumors revolving Breath of the Wild 2 have been confirmed, we won’t have much longer to wait to see what Nintendo brings to E3 on June 15th. Breath of the Wild 2 will hopefully make an appearance, but we will have to wait and see.
