Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is coming to PlayStation 5 in June, and because of this deal, it will extend the game’s exclusivity with Sony until at least 2022. That means that other consoles won’t see either version of the game until then. Originally the deal was to end in April of 2021, but the PlayStation 5 upgrade version has extended that window.
Extended Exclusivity Deal
Square Enix released a new trailer for FFVII Remake Intergrade that showcases more of what’s to be added to this edition, as well as announcing at the end that Intergrade will remain a PS5 exclusive for at least six months.
We always knew the original FFVII Remake was exclusive to Sony for the first year, so it is no surprise that the upgraded PS5 version with new features follows in those same footsteps. Both PlayStation and Square Enix are not strangers to console exclusive deals either, especially when it comes Final Fantasy.
Naturally there’s no date for future consoles releases as of yet. They’ll want to make sure to wait well after its release date to give us any information on that. However, Intergrade is looking to be a pretty interesting addition to the FFVIIR experience.
Intergrade Explained
The release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is still pretty confusing. The short version is that anyone who owns the game already, by purchasing it not by getting if from PS Plus, can upgrade to Intergrade for free. Intergrade brings FFVII Remake forward to fully benefit from the PlayStation 5. However, this will not include the INTERmission DLC featuring Yuffie. That will need to be purchased on its own for $20.
It is also worth mentioning that if you own a physical copy of FFVII Remake and are looking to upgrade it, you’ll need the disc-based model of the PlayStation 5. Alternatively if it is your first time buying the game, the PlayStation 5 version will cost you $69.99 and comes with the Yuffie DLC.
INTERmission Additions

Yuffie will be a playable character in her FF7R Episode INTERmission DLC, included in Intergrade. The trailer revealed that she has the Ramuh Summon Materia which mean he is returning as a summon. It also showed that she would be fighting Nero the Sable and Scarlet during her episodes.
The first part of Yuffie’s DLC seems to take part during the time when Cloud gets separated from Avalanche and the second part seems to happen before the attack on the Sector 7 plate. With the addition of Yuffie to the story, and the presence of Dirge of Cerberus characters Nero and Weis, it is even more clear that this alternate storyline is about to stray further from the one that we know and love.
