A new metroidvania RPG, Elderand, was announced for both console and PC. You can check out the gameplay trailer here. Let’s dive into what this game is all about.
What Is Elderand?

Elderand is a metroidvania RPG in development by Singeria Games and Mantra. The game is Lovecraftian inspired, like Darkest Dungeon and Call of Cthulhu. Elderand will feature skill-based combat, level progression, and a story-driven narrative.
Inspired by the classics like Castlevania, Elderand is mixing in new elements into the metroidvania genre. The world is rich with monsters and treasures to collect. Skill-based combat will test even the craftiest of players, and this game looks to be bringing in some big boss battles as well.
The graphics looks similar to games like Dead Cells and Children of Morta, but features more of a medieval look. It is a 2D metroidvania game, which means that you’ll be unlocking new items and abilities and revisiting old areas to find new secrets. Remember to look everywhere and try everything, as metroidvanias are full of secrets. Elderand looks to be no exception, and encourages players to explore everything.
You’ll also want to be on the look out for loot and treasure. You can find, buy or collect a huge range of items, all used to upgrade you character. On top of that, you’ll also be able to bargain with shopkeepers for even better loot.
When Can We Expect Elderand?
As far as we know, it is just slated for a 2022 release. While that seems far away, it’ll give them plenty of time to perfect their title. So far it has been announced for both console and PC. You can wishlist it on Steam now and stay up to date with any news on the game.
