If you thought you had seen the last of 30 fps games, think again. According to Eurogamer Portugal, Assasin’s Creed Valhalla will run at – a not so impressive – 30 frames per second. Considering how powerful the Xbox Series X is….these are baffling news indeed.
Ubisoft didn’t stress, or comment on the frame rate for its most impressive upcoming title reveal, and now we know why. I still hope that from here to November the frame rate can be taken up to 60fps for the next generation consoles, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
A 4K resolution has been promised at that frame-rate, which opens the door on a 1080p performance mode (in order to hit 60fps) possibility. Still, it is disappointing as AC Valhalla is a cross generation game.
While the Series X version is expected to look much better than the current gen versions. The game itself will likely be the same across all consoles (A.I., Design, Gameplay), so it is a bit of a bummer that Ubisoft isn’t optimizing the frame-rate in the upcoming console versions.
When it is all said and done, the news of the low frame-rate are a bit deflating, but I still look forwards to playing the game later this year as it remains perhaps the most impressive looking launch title so far.
