There’s a new rumor going around involving a possible collaboration between Nintendo and Xbox. It’s being teased by an industry insider that Bravely Default could be coming to Xbox Game Pass. Of course, this is still just speculation, but it would fall in line with some of the other additions to the membership recently like Octopath Traveler.
Bravely Default on Xbox Game Pass?
Nick Baker, an expert on Xbox leaks tweeted on April 25th “Bravely put this out pretty early” and goes on to explain that some more Square games are headed to Xbox Game Pass. The use of the word ‘Bravely’ has lead players to believe it could mean that Square’s Bravely Default series is coming to the membership.
While his tweet remains true with the addition of Dragon Quest Builders 2 to the service, fans still seems to think his use of ‘bravely’ means more. It would be a good time for Nintendo to give the franchise some more exposure since Bravely Default II came out in February. It would also continue the pattern of the Game Pass membership adding JRPGs to its library.
It’s hard to say what’s coming next to the membership, but it definitely seems like it could be Bravely Default or Bravely Second. Nintendo and Microsoft have had a pretty good relationship, especially lately, and I wouldn’t be too surprised to see it happen.
A New Xbox and Nintendo Collaboration?
Microsoft has supported the Switch quite a bit in the past so it wouldn’t be surprising to see more support in the future. We’ve seen Microsoft publish Ori and the Blind Forest as well as Minecraft for the Switch. On top of that, Banjo-Kazooie and Steve from Minecraft are both in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate now, so their relationship is pretty solid.
Other rumors began when fans noticed a Nintendo Switch on Phil Spencer’s shelf. Spencer and the team at Xbox are no strangers to these kinds of teases which just has fans speculating even more about what it could mean. There’s a good chance that the Nintendo Switch was placed there for a reason, and it could mean a future collaboration between the two companies.
This could mean a number of different things, including supporting the rumor of Bravely Default. However, it could also mean that more Microsoft characters are coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. With Banjo-Kazooie present, that’s definitely another possibility.
Regardless, it is refreshing to see video game companies getting along rather than competing with each other. A new Microsoft/ Nintendo collaboration is sure to benefit everyone, no matter what it might be.
