2024 Recap: Xbox Launches its Best Games, Xbox Gets out of the Race Against Sony, Astro GotY, and More!

Posted on December 29, 2024December 29, 2024 by Samuel Rivera

This (2024), has been an interesting year for me. I have dedicated the entire year to hunting down N64 cartridges that are still missing in my collection, all while playing some of the newest games around. My year ends with a Sega Saturn purchase, and a general 1990s vibe. But what was the year in…

Aidyn Chronicles Review: The Forgotten N64 Open World RPG

Posted on March 17, 2024 by Samuel Rivera

If you have read my work on the site, you know that the Nintendo 64 is my personal favorite home console of all time. I loved its games (even some of the bad ones), and its pure polygon crunching power which far surpassed that of its contemporary rivals (PS1, Sega Saturn), and at least until…

Posted on January 26, 2024 by Samuel Rivera

If you have read my work on this page for the past 20 years, you will know that I love the Nintendo 64. “Love” is actually a bit of an understatement. The Nintendo 64 is the home console that I can’t live without…even today in 2024. Given the statement above, you can imagine my suffering…

Posted on November 23, 2023 by Samuel Rivera

It is hard to believe, but The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time turns 25 years old today. That’s 9131 days for those of us who like to keep count of such things. That’s a long time, if you were 13-14 years old like me, you are now approaching 40, might have kids (some that…

TBT: 27 Years of Super Mario 64: Turning My Love for Super Mario into a Family Tradition

Posted on October 26, 2023 by Samuel Rivera

Yes, it has been 27 years since Super Mario 64. Despite the fact that this article is mainly focused on that Nintendo 64 groundbreaking title, it wouldn’t be fair to say that the first game to get 3-D right has been the most influential game of my gaming life…even though it could be.  While I…

Throwback Bit Thursday: 1998 For a JRPG Fan!

Posted on July 20, 2023 by Samuel Rivera

So, it is hard to believe, but it has been a quarter century since 1998. I have very fond memories, perhaps my fondest memories, as a gamer are from that year.  While most of my time was spent playing (oh blessed days!) WCW/NWO Revenge, Ocarina of Time, and Golden Eye.  I did play some JRPGs…

Posted on July 5, 2023 by Samuel Rivera

And so, the era of leaked documents continues, but this time we are going back on a Nostalgic trip to 1996. During this time period, Nintendo was king, and about to unleash the most powerful video gaming system (PC or otherwise) known to man in the Nintendo 64. Sega had a leg up on Sony…

The Top 5 RPGs I Must Replay Now and Then

Posted on February 21, 2023February 21, 2023 by Samuel Rivera

Last week, I wrote a column about the JRPGs that I would like to replay some day, but most likely would never get around to replaying for a variety of reasons. Today, I will list a completely opposite collection of games. These are RPGs (not all are JRPGs) that I must replay every 1-2 years….

An Honest 2023 Look at Golden Eye 007 on Xbox Series X

Posted on February 5, 2023February 6, 2023 by Samuel Rivera

About 3 weeks ago, Golden Eye returned on modern consoles (namely Xbox One/ Series X/S and Nintendo Switch) courtesy of Rare and Microsoft. The title is a remaster in the purest meaning of the ‘remastered’ word.  Golden Eye remains the same game that graced the Nintendo 64, but with enhancements such as a 16:9 widescreen…

Games That Will Cost You a Kidney: Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness

Posted on January 13, 2023January 14, 2023 by Samuel Rivera

I know what you are thinking: “The N64 Castlevanias were crap, no way that either copy of its two entries are going for more than $50.” If that’s what you thought when you first read the heading of this article; then I regret to inform you that you are (mostly) completely wrong my friend. First, the…
